Find out if your state pays you to storm-proof your roof.

Several states now offer grants, tax credits, or require insurers to discount your premium for a wind- or hail-resistant roof. We track which ones, how much, and how to apply — sourced directly from the state program.

States we checked with nothing active yet

No state-funded roof grant, tax credit, or mandatory FORTIFIED insurance discount currently exists in these states — each page explains what we checked for and what's available instead. Programs are launching quickly across the country, so this list gets rechecked periodically.

Why this exists

Insurance is quietly starting to reward storm-resistant roofs

Homeowners insurance premiums have climbed sharply across storm-prone states, and a growing number of state insurance departments and legislatures are responding by requiring insurers to credit homes with certified storm-resistant roofs — or by funding the upgrade directly. Coverage of any single state's program is easy to find. A side-by-side view of every state isn't, so we built one.
