Status, in one line
No state-level roof grant, tax credit, or mandatory FORTIFIED insurance discount program was identified in Connecticut as of this review. That can change quickly — several states on this site (Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi) had nothing a few years ago and now have real programs, so this page gets rechecked periodically.
What we checked for
We looked for a state-funded grant program modeled on the IBHS FORTIFIED Roof standard (the pattern behind most programs on this site), any pending state legislation to create one, and any mandatory insurance-discount requirement tied to storm-resistant roofing. None of those currently exist in Connecticut.
What might still be available
- Ask your own homeowners insurer directly whether they offer a voluntary wind-mitigation or impact-resistant-roofing discount — this varies by carrier and isn't state-mandated, but many insurers offer something even without a state program behind it
- USDA Section 504 (rural, income-qualified home repair loans and grants) may cover roof work as part of a broader repair, separate from wind-hardening-specific programs
- Local CDBG-funded city or county home-rehabilitation programs sometimes cover roof replacement as part of general housing rehab — check with your county's community development office
- FEMA hazard mitigation funding becomes available after a federally declared disaster, but only in affected areas and only after a declaration — not an ongoing standalone program
If you're aware of a program we missed
State programs in this space have been launching quickly — nine new ones have appeared across the country within roughly the past two years. If Connecticut creates one, this page gets updated; see our methodology for how we verify and add states.
