My Safe Florida Home pays $2 for every $1 you spend hardening your roof — up to $10,000.

$10K max grant, 2:1 state match
$405M+ reappropriated for 2026–27 cycle
45K homeowners on the backlog with completed inspections
Status, in one line Funded and open, but the match requirement means you need to spend money to get money — unless you qualify as low-income, in which case the state covers the full $10,000 with nothing required from you.

How the matching grant actually works

My Safe Florida Home (MSFH) is a matching grant: the state contributes $2 for every $1 you spend on qualifying hurricane-hardening work, up to a $10,000 state contribution. To get the full $10,000, your project needs to cost at least $15,000 total — you pay $5,000, the state pays $10,000. Low-income homeowners (at or below 80% of county median income) get the full $10,000 with no matching requirement at all.

This is a reimbursement program, not money up front: you pay your contractor, then submit the paid invoice for reimbursement. Getting written grant approval before any work begins is critical — starting early disqualifies the entire project.

What it covers

A free wind mitigation inspection comes first and determines which of these your home actually needs — you don't choose the scope yourself.

Funding status

The 2025–2026 cycle reopened August 4, 2025 with $352 million statewide and has limited funding remaining as of mid-2026. A budget deal reached Memorial Day weekend 2026 reappropriates more than $405 million across My Safe Florida Home and the My Safe Florida Condo Pilot combined for 2026–2027, much of it earmarked for a backlog of roughly 45,000 homeowners who already completed their inspection and are waiting on funding.
