What's actually available here

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) FORTIFIED Fund Grant Program provides qualifying Desha County households up to $15,000 toward a roof replacement on an existing home, or up to $7,500 toward a FORTIFIED Roof on new construction. Applications are processed through Communities Unlimited, a HUD-connected nonprofit housing organization, not a state agency. Communities Unlimited's own reporting notes Desha County among the counties where its rural housing outreach has already helped homeowners complete FORTIFIED roof replacements under this program.

Who qualifies in Desha County

• Household income at or below 120% of the area median income for Desha County
• The home must be your primary residence
• Eligible applicants are contacted to schedule a home inspection before any work begins
