Status, in one line
Baldwin County is one of only two Alabama counties with a standing, recurring quarterly schedule — it opens two days after Mobile County in the same funding round, on its own separate allocation.
2026 opening dates for Baldwin County
- January 8, 2026 — 9:00 AM
- April 9, 2026 — 9:00 AM
- July 9, 2026 — 9:00 AM
- October 8, 2026 — 9:00 AM
These are published dates as of this review — always confirm the current schedule at StrengthenAlabamaHomes.com before the date you're planning around, since program schedules can shift.
What happens at 9:00 AM
The portal opens at StrengthenAlabamaHomes.com. You enter your county and zip code; if funds are still available, you're allowed to proceed. Funds are committed first-come, first-served, and the portal closes the moment the county's allocation is claimed — the program explicitly warns that being a few minutes late can mean waiting a full quarter for the next opening.
Have this ready before 9:00 AM
- Most recent federal IRS Form 1040 or 1040-SR, all pages including your signature (not Alabama Form 40, not a W-2, not a transcript) — or your most recent Social Security benefit statement if applicable
- A notarized Vendor Disclosure Form, ready to upload within 7 days of applying
- Proof of homeowners insurance including wind and flood coverage where applicable
- At least one FORTIFIED evaluator contacted in advance to confirm availability and fee
- A laptop or desktop — the program states smartphones don't fully display the application
The rest of the process
This grant follows the same rules statewide once you're through the county-specific opening window — up to $10,000 toward an IBHS FORTIFIED Roof, no income limit, paid to your contractor after certification. See the Alabama program page for the full eligibility rules and evaluator/contractor process.
